This passion for fresh, high-quality produce inspired founders Gopal and Fazleen to start a grocery store in Vancouver, which led to City Wide Produce. Gopal has been instrumental in the company’s growth and success since 2010. His responsibilities include team management, sourcing and selling quality produce, and driving City Wide’s expansion throughout Western Canada.

Raman has been a Sales Account Manager at City Wide Produce since 2022. He is responsible for implementing strategic sales plans, expanding the company’s customer base, and ensuring a strong presence in the produce market. He thrives on building lasting relationships with clients and enjoys the challenge of finding tailored solutions that meet their unique needs.

2007- The Beginning: A Small Retail Store In Vancouver
The passion for produce began in 2007 when Gopal and Fazleen purchased a small grocery store on Fraser Street in Vancouver. Through hands-on experience, they developed an understanding of the industry and discovered a passion for produce. This was the key factor in validating their desire to continue providing fresh produce to their clients!

2010- The Start of City Wide Produce
Gopal’s friendly and warm customer service played a huge part in why City Wide Produce started! After selling their retail store, he continued supplying fresh produce to the food service industry. As word got out, they began expanding into wholesale throughout the Lower Mainland, and City Wide Produce was born! Later that year, they partnered with top North American suppliers and imported their first shipment of produce.

2014- Current Warehouse
As City Wide continued to grow, expanded its warehouse space to accommodate increasing demand. This facility became City Wide’s home for the next 11 years. This will become City Wide’s home for the next 11 years

2015- Introducing Temperature-Controlled Coolers
As the business grew, City Wide started carrying an even wider variety of produce! They built a temperature-monitored cooler to accommodate the importing of wet vegetables and a variety of other fresh produce to better serve their buyers across Western Canada. They also acquired over a dozen new field vegetables for distribution, partnering with finest growers across North America to ensure their produce is top quality, every time.

2016- Joining the BCPMA
City Wide Produce proudly joined the British Columbia Produce Marketing Association (BCPMA), further solidifying its industry presence.

2018- CanadaGAP Certified: A Commitment to Food Safety
As market experts and trailblazers in the industry, their need to uphold high standards of food safety was a priority for City Wide. They worked diligently and obtained a GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) recognized, CanadaGAP Food Safety Certification. This certified training ensures food safety from the farms, through logistics to our customers. Recognized for maintaining a meticulously clean warehouse, customers are confident that produce going out from City Wide Produce is treated with care, safety, and expert handling!

2018- Debut at the CPMA Convention and Trade Show
City Wide Produce showcased its expertise on a national stage at the Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) Convention & Trade Show. The event highlighted City Wide’s strong supplier relationships, market insights, and commitment to helping businesses in Western Canada thrive through customized solutions and reliable service.

2020- Expanding the Fleet for Fresh & Reliable Delivery
City Wide Produce continues to grow in client relationships and quality produce. They now have two-temperature-controlled coolers to keep produce fresh, dry storage for root crop and refrigerated trucks for the best transportation of their produce. The City Wide team has grown with members that are deeply committed to providing friendly service and support for clients. We continue to grow with you!

2022- Investing in Sustainability with a CNG Truck
City Wide Produce became an industry leader in sustainability by purchasing the first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Tandem 10 Tonne Reefer Truck. This eco-friendly investment aligns with our mission of healthy eating and healthy earth. Taking strides to help reduce emissions and create a healthier breathing environment with each small, yet big contribution.

2023- Leadership & Recognition Gopal Joins the BCPMA Board of Directors
Now giving back to the produce community, Gopal takes the next step into leadership and joins the BCPMA board of directors. Here he is able to closely work with peers and find ways to increase engagement, create partnerships, and of course promote Half Your Plate to eat more fruits and vegetables!

As 2nd time exhibitor at the CPMA Trade Show in Vancouver since 2018, Gopal was honoured to be selected as a Panelist for the Health Symposium. Later City Wide Produce was also honoured with the Fresh Health Award to recognize their efforts in promoting healthy eating the Half Your Plate initiative.

2025- New Warehouse A New Era: Moving into a State-of-the-Art Warehouse
After 15 years of growth, City Wide Produce is excited to move into its brand-new, 16,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art warehouse. Designed and built by Orion Construction, every detail was carefully planned by Gopal and Fazleen to create a facility that will support the company’s next phase of expansion.
