Mona brings over 11 years of experience and an unwavering passion to the produce industry. What began as an unplanned role quickly turned into a thriving career — one fueled by growth, challenge, and meaningful relationships.
“I never imagined staying in produce this long,” Mona shares. “But I genuinely love the fast-paced, ever-changing nature of it — adapting to seasonality, market shifts, and knowing that the work we do directly impacts what ends up on people’s tables.”
Her proudest accomplishment? Not one single moment — but the entire journey.
“It’s looking back after 11 years and realizing the career I’ve built in an industry I never planned to enter. I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built and how I’ve grown into a role where I can influence strategy and contribute to the broader produce community.”
Mona’s advice for those in the industry is simple but powerful:
“Value relationships. Produce is unpredictable — but if you’re adaptable and treat people fairly, you’ll build partnerships that carry you through the challenges. The produce world can change overnight, so being adaptable is just as important as being knowledgeable.”
Today, Mona continues to make an impact not only through her work at City Wide but also as a Director of the BC Produce Marketing Association (BCPMA) — a role that allows her to both share her expertise and learn from other industry leaders.
“It’s been fulfilling to contribute to promoting healthy eating, strengthening industry networks, and supporting the future of produce.”
